How we verify profiles
The three-step verification process every profile passes before publication.
Step 1: Source the public record
Before drafting a profile, our researchers pull the company's filings from the relevant national registry. In practice this means Companies House (UK), SEC EDGAR (US), the Registre du Commerce et des Sociétés (France), the Handelsregister (Germany), the Companies Registration Office (Ireland), or equivalent national or state registries. We note the company's legal name, registration number, registered address, year of incorporation, and listed directors.
Step 2: Cross-check the website
We review the company's own website to understand how they describe themselves, their products or services, their history, and their team. We record this as the company's stated positioning. We also check for signs of an active, maintained site — updated content, functional links, current year copyright notices.
Step 3: Independent press coverage
For companies of any meaningful size, we look for independent press coverage in established trade or general press. This serves two purposes: it corroborates the stated claims, and it surfaces any material issues we should consider before publishing.
Re-verification
We re-verify profiles on a rolling basis. Companies change, close, pivot, and restructure. When we identify a material change — new registered address, new ownership, change of status — we update the profile. Where a company has ceased trading or been dissolved, we remove the profile.
Corrections and takedowns
If you believe a profile contains incorrect information, email [email protected] with the profile URL and the specific correction. Corrections are applied within one working day where the fact is straightforwardly verifiable.
If you are the subject of a profile and wish to request removal, we consider such requests on a case-by-case basis. Where a profile is built entirely from public records, we are under no obligation to remove it, but we will review the request and respond.
